Rebecca E. Byrd

 

Ms. Byrd is a devoted daughter, mother, and grandmother. She understands the importance of family and preserving the estate which you worked hard to attain. Ms. Byrd founded Byrd & Associates, PLC in March 2000, and is the association's managing member. Ms. Byrd was born in Nashville, Tennessee. She received her Bachelor of Science in Commerce with a concentration in Finance, with high honors from the University of Louisville in 1979. After graduating from college and prior to attending law school, Ms. Byrd was a successful businesswoman who owned several diverse businesses, including an Arthur Murray dance franchise and a catering business.

Ms. Byrd attended Vanderbilt Law School as a single parent with 2 young daughters. She was on the Dean’s List and graduated with a Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) in 1992. Prior to starting her own firm, Ms. Byrd was an associate with the Williamson County law firm of Petersen and Buerger, later becoming a partner of the re-named firm of Buerger, Moseley, Carson & Byrd, PLC. Ms. Byrd began her practice in Family Law and has concentrated in Family Law throughout her law career.

Ms. Byrd became a Fellow of the prestigious American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) in 2009 and has served on various Committees within that prestigious organization. She was invited to become a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers (IAFL) in 2010 and has been actively involved since. Both organizations are composed of the leading family law practitioners globally and are on the cutting edge of family law developments worldwide.

Since 2000, Ms. Byrd has been actively involved in alternative dispute resolution. She obtained certification by the Tennessee Supreme Court as a Rule 31 Family Mediator in 2000 and as a Rule 31 Civil Mediator in 2004. She has successfully mediated and attended numerous mediations, saving litigants the substantial expenses and emotional turmoil of protracted trials.

Ms. Byrd was certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy as a Certified Family Law Trial attorney in 2001. She is the Past President of the Tennessee Family Law Section. She has been elected annually to the Super Lawyers of the Mid-South since 2008. She is a frequent lecturer to family law attorneys in the Certified Family Lawyer, Equitable Divorce Settlements, Child Custody, and other continuing legal education classes. She has been named as one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyer Association.

Ms. Byrd is actively involved with Brentwood Baptist Church. She is a member of the Finance Ministry Team, a Sunday School teacher for 18 mos.- 24 mos., and a member of the Adult Choir at Brentwood Baptist Church.

 

When not practicing law, you can typically find Ms. Byrd with at least 1 of her grandsons. Her family is her pride and joy and her grandsons range from teenagers to toddlers. Her 2 young daughters have grown into successful businesswomen themselves and pride in her family keeps reminding Ms. Byrd of the importance of family to her, and to you as her client.
